Compact with Texans

Mission

The mission of Texas AgriLife Research is to conduct agricultural research to assure the highest quality food and fiber products and a sustainable environment, as well as to foster economic viability throughout the Texas and national agricultural industry. The Agricultural Experiment Station also administers regulatory programs to benefit the citizens of Texas by ensuring the quality of feeds and fertilizers, and providing inspection and certification of commercial apiaries.

The goals of the AgriLife Research are to conduct research programs that:

• Ensure a Texas agricultural system that is highly competitive in the global economy
  
  
• Provide a safe and secure food and fiber system for Texas, improve foods and specify dietary parameters that lead to a healthy and well-nourished Texas and nation
  
  
• Develop data and technologies to preserve and improve the rural/urban interface
  
  
• Enhance the economic opportunity and utilization of natural resources to benefit the quality of life for all Texans.

Vision

The vision of AgriLife Research is to be a state, regional, national, and international leader in coordinating and conducting research and providing regulatory services in agriculture and natural resources that meet societal needs and expectations for food, fiber, and the environment.

Philosophy

As the "Compact with Texans" is made, AgriLife Research recognizes it was created to serve the people of Texas. AgriLife Research strives to fulfill its mission with the highest standards of ethics, accountability, effectiveness, and competence. Administration, faculty, and staff subscribe to fundamental values of dedication, purpose, and responsibility, which are intrinsic in these principles:

• To serve the diverse population of Texas and the United States through targeted basic and applied research, technology development, graduate education, and regulatory programs.
  
  
• To provide public service through research and education focused on problem-solving for producers and consumers of agricultural products and services and natural resources.
  
  
• To ensure that programs relate to high priority issues, are centered around scientific principles, maintain flexibility for timely solutions to current problem, and efficiently use available resources.

AgriLife Research is a member of the Texas A&M University System. AgriLife Research, along with its sister agency, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, and the Texas A&M Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, fulfill the university's land-grant responsibility of combining teaching, research, and extension to create new knowledge and technology.

AgriLife Research research programs are conducted on the Texas A&M campus at College Station and at 13 regional research centers across the state.

The Formal Written complaint process for AgriLife Research provides an opportunity for any complaints concerning the AgriLife Research be directed to:

The complaint will be directed to the appropriate official within 2 weeks. If a response is not possible within 2 weeks, then a written response to the complainant shall indicate when a resolution will be provided.
